My father and the Chief were childhood friends who continued that friendship as adults, while also working closely together at the Bedford Police Department. Sunday, February 25, 2018I went on the Bedford Police Department in April of 1968 and Chief Eunson retired in July of 1993. I worked for him in excess of 25 years. As Judge Barton said in the obiturary his integrity was above reproach. He was always fair in his treatment of the Officers under his command. He was ahead of his time in Community Policing. He told us to interact with the public whenever possible in a positive way. He never reacted in the negative as to technological updates. Rest in peace good friend and Godspeed.

Saturday, February 24, 2018Having grown up in Bedford, I had the pleasure of knowing the three Eunson brothers, Ralph, Donald and Jack. They all grew up to be fine men. I also had the pleasure of working with and for Chief Eunson. He had suggested I should consider a career in law enforcement, forensics and Crime Scene Search. After joining the Bedford Police Department, he encouraged me to study the law further and seek a carer with the Massachusetts State Police. Don had a dry sense of humor and could be trusted as a friend to give solid advice as a mentor. My condolences to Dorothy and the family. Sincerely, Richard Whelan
