Obituary of Virginia (Stoner) Hill

Virginia (Stoner) Hill, age 84 and a resident of Carleton-Willard Village in Bedford, died of a chronic liver condition surrounded by her family in the Carlisle home of her youngest daughter Judith Bose on December 7, 2020. Virginia's husband of 62 years, David, was with her through her time in Carlisle, as was her granddaughter, Kamala Bose. Virginia's older daughter, Debra Day, along with her husband Steven and their two sons, Stuart and Spencer, from Pittsburgh, PA were able to visit her shortly before her death. Virginia and David met while students in the music department of Indiana State Teachers College in Indiana, PA. Following their graduation they married and began a series of moves to Fort Lee, VA; Fort Benning, GA; Washington, PA; State College, PA; Clarence, NY; Raleigh and Chapel Hill, NC; and Bedford, MA. During their travels they were able to spend time following their career paths as choral conductors in the military and church choirs. Virginia also was a preferred piano accompanist for school groups. One of her favorite experiences was as a nursery school teacher where she was able to combine her love of music and young children. Virginia was also an avid gardener and lover of flowers of all kinds. She had a very successful second career as a real estate agent and she and David enjoyed travelling to visit Debbie and Judy in California, New Mexico, and Vienna, Austria. Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Jessie Stoner, two sisters, and four brothers. Funeral Services were private.
