Obituary of William Andrew Damery, Sr.
William Andrew Damery Sr., of Bedford, lost his courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease on Tuesday, December 29, 2020. He was 80 years old. Born Jan. 26, 1940 in Cambridge, he graduated from Bedford High School. Bill lived most of his life in Bedford except when stationed in Okinawa Japan serving as Quartermaster, 2nd Class in the US Coast Guard. After discharge from the United States Coast Guard, he married Noreen McGovern, worked and retired as a firefighter from the Bedford Fire Department. Bill also enjoyed learning about fine wines and liqueurs while working at Lexington Liquor Mart. His time spent in Japan led to a lifelong appreciation for the Japanese culture in which he had many friends he kept in touch with. Bill also loved ice cream, the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots, summer afternoons exploring Boston and Cambridge, classical music, and learning more about his Scottish and Swedish heritage. Bill was preceded by his parents, the late Clarence and Hazel (Erickson). He is survived by his sons William Jr. and his wife Jodi, Michael and his wife Marlene; his grandchildren Mahala, Madelyn, Miranda, and Ryan; his siblings Joseph Damery, Alice Hardy; many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
