Obituary of John Ross Patterson, Sr.

John Ross Patterson Sr. “Jay” passed away unexpectedly on March 29, 2021 in Mesa, Arizona at the age of 80 years old. Originally from Massachusetts, Jay moved to Arizona for his retirement. Attracted to the warmer weather, he made many friends and enjoyed helping his neighbors walk their dogs. John was predeceased by his parents, the late Alice (Kenny) Patterson and Leon Patterson, his sister Hazel “Pat” Pedi and his brothers, Frank and Fred Patterson. John was educated in the Bedford school system. He worked at General Signal for over 20 years, and retired as a Janitor at Greenhalge Elementary School in Lowell. He learned plumbing as a trade and helped many friends and family. He completed his high school diploma later in life to set an example for his children. Jay liked to watch sports on the weekends when he was not working. He was the Green Bay Packers number one fan. There was not a time where the Packers were not properly represented in his residence. John also loved to camp; he would take many weekend trips in his RV to Northern New Hampshire, Florida, and many places in between. He is survived by his brother William “Bill” Patterson and his wife, Barbara of Greeley CO; daughter Christine Patterson of Dracut; his son John Patterson Jr, of Dracut; his son Jimmy Patterson and his fiancée Ann Marie Joaquin of Bayonet Point, Florida; his daughter Stacey Patterson-Gagnon and her wife Katelyn of Pembroke, NH; his grandchildren: Khadija Diaby of Boston and Dallas Hubert of Bloomfield CT; abd close family friend Jesseca Hubert of Stoneham. In lieu of flowers please donate to your local animal shelter as John was a true animal lover. John will be buried with the cremains of his predeceased dogs, Tiffany and Shamus. He had adopted many pets from local shelters. There are no services scheduled at this time. John will be laid to rest in Shawsheen Cemetery in Bedford with his parents and brothers.
