Thalia Santosuosso

Obituary of Thalia E. Santosuosso

Thalia Santosuosso, age 88, of Bedford, passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 in Waltham. She was strong, but she was tired. Thalia was born to the late Catherine Behrakis and George Asimas and began her life in Asbury Park, New Jersey. They later moved to Canton, MA, where Thalia attended school and graduated from Canton High in 1950. Thalia moved to Cambridge with her lifelong friend, Betty, and set out working. She married and moved to Bedford, where she raised her young family and made many good friends. She later worked for Polaroid Corporation until her retirement. Thalia enjoyed hobbies like bowling, but her true passion was ballroom dancing! She enjoyed being with treasured family and friends, especially with Jo, Dottie, and Gerri. She became active in the Bedford COA, and was a regular at both the Scrabble and poker tables, often competing with the men and winning. Thalia cultivated many friendships there, and her absence will be felt. Thalia is survived by her children: Debra Dorsey (Daniel), Diane Funk (James), Jeffrey Santosuosso (Tara), and Andrew Santosuosso. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Kelly Montejo (Michael), Nicholas Dorsey (Amy Anderson), Olivia Dorsey, Anthony Santosuosso (Jennifer Dim), Alexander Funk, and Kristen Funk (Austin Rickabaugh) as well as four sweet great-grandchildren: Mason and Dylan Montejo, and Hudson and Sophia Dorsey. Thalia is also survived by her loving extended family, including brothers and sisters-in-law, as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews, and former husband and friend, Alfred Santosuosso. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Patricia Behrakis, and her Auntie Helen and Uncle Chris. Visiting hours were held in Shawsheen Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 15, 2021. A Funeral Service was held in the funeral home on Thursday, September 16, 2021; burial in Shawsheen Cemetery followed. Memorial donations in Thalia's memory to the charity of your choice, including those benefiting veterans, protecting and nurturing children, and those seeking to relieve hunger in the community are appreciated.
